This Week from Mitch

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I have such great memories of Vacation Bible School. I remember playing games with friends. I remember the older students I looked up to with such awe, wondering in my mind, "Will I ever be big like them?" I remember VBS-themed snacks, meals, and even some of the songs and prayers. I wonder, do you remember?

If you do, then you know why Vacation Bible School is so important. At its best, VBS is a week in the summer that imprints on a child's heart the love of Jesus and the love of a good Christian community. This imprint creates a lifelong invitation to church, a life-long reminder that God is good, and a lifelong reminder that the church is a safe place for all to come.

I invite you to come and see Vacation Bible School in action July 18-22. Come and volunteer and come out to our Food Truck Party on the 22nd (5 to 8 p.m.) that finishes things off. Even if you do not have children, your presence will tell families in this community that they are welcome at St. Martin's and that is a blessing all by itself.

In Christ,

Mitch+
