50 Days of Joy Challenge

hosted by the Outreach Committee

We often think of Easter as a single Sunday, a joyous celebration full of beautiful worship, fine Easter attire, egg hunts, and evening feasts. But then Monday comes and…well, it’s just Monday again, right?

Nope. Did you know that Easter is actually a 50-day season?

That's right, from Easter Sunday all the way to Pentecost Sunday, we are in a special time of celebrating the risen Christ and his victory over death. Just as we walk in the way of the cross for 40 days of Lent, remembering Christ’s time in the wilderness, we also walk in that resurrection joy the 50 days after through the Ascension (day 40) and to Pentecost (day 50)! Because in Christ Jesus there is more joy than sorrow - at least 10 days more joy, to be exact.

Think of it this way: just as the anticipation of Christmas builds throughout Advent, the joy and wonder of Easter continue to unfold in the weeks that follow. This extended season gives us ample time to truly soak in the meaning of the resurrection – the hope, the forgiveness, the new life that is offered to us.

Jesus gave so freely to us. Now we turn around and give freely from our joy.

During these 50 days, you are invited to cultivate joy in your hearts and make a difference in our commmunity through the Outreach Committee’s 50 DAYS OF JOY CHALLENGE.

50 challenges. 50 days. 50 ways to live faith actively.

Starting now and leading up to our church-wide Day of Service on Pentecost Sunday (June 8th, 2025), we have 50 simple yet impactful outreach-related items and tasks for you to complete. These opportunities are designed to help us feed our neighbors, show God's love in practical ways, and experience the joy that comes from serving others.

How does it work?

1. Get Your Checklist: You can download the "50 Days of Joy" checklist or pick up a physical copy at church on Sundays.

2. Embrace the Challenge: Explore the list and begin collecting items. Complete them at your own pace over the next 50 days. Bring the items for the Harvest Hope wagons on Sundays.

3. Share the Joy: We encourage you to share your experiences! Use the hashtag #50DaysofJoy on social media to inspire others.

4. Celebrate on Pentecost Sunday: Bring your gardening gloves and come to our church-wide Day of Service on Pentecost, after the 10:30 AM worship.

5. Challenge Finishers: If you sucessfully complete all 49 items on the checklist, bring it with you to the Pentecost Day of Service. Finishers will get a special tote bag! (But you must complete the list! No cheating!)

Join us as we spread joy, feed our community, and celebrate the Spirit together!
