This Week from Mitch
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I have a childhood memory of everyone wearing red on Pentecost. The day when Jesus gives us the gift of the Holy Spirit.
For me, the Holy Spirit has always been both a grounding and driving force in my life. I have prayed for strength and courage to meet a day ahead, I have asked the Holy Spirit for guidance, and I have prayed for a Spirit of comfort and truth. I don't know if the Holy Spirit has necessarily answered these prayers, what I can say, with confidence, is that in the moment of turning over my own weakness to God and asking for God's blessing, I have felt stronger, more open, more loving.
To ask the Holy Spirit for guidance is to admit that we can't do everything alone, but with God's help and guidance we can do much more than ever thought we could. When we pray to the Holy Spirit, we rest our vulnerabilities inside the loving arms of God's invulnerability and for me that is more than enough.
In Christ,
Mitch+
