This Week from Mitch

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Bishops’ ordinations, weddings, mission projects, mission trips, summer jobs, camp experiences, vacations, vacation bible school, pool days, and beach trips are all happening. Summer is here. 

I love summer. I love coming to work every once in a while in shorts. I love seeing family, and I love seeing pictures of your families. The freedom that comes with summer is deeply ingrained in the American psyche. It was the Summer of Love, not winter. 

At St. Martin’s, I want to celebrate summer with you. From frequent snowball Sundays to lunches for seniors, I look forward to seeing you. I look forward to celebrating God’s love with you as we make summer memories. A summer memory will be made this Saturday as Amanda and Steve get married. I wish them the best. It was 20 years ago this week that Denise and I said, “I do.” It was the best thing I have ever done. I know Amanda and Steve will feel the same about each other. Please take a moment and say a prayer for them. Please also take a moment to say a prayer of thanksgiving for blessings from summers in the past and summer blessings yet to come.
