This Week from Mitch
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I am pleased to say that this Sunday at all three services we will have a guest preacher. Our seminarian Jeremy Mount, recently ordained in the Episcopal Church, will get to proclaim the message on his heart. Fun fact, while Jeremy is currently a chaplain stationed at Fort Jackson, he once started a church inside of the Flora Bama, one of my favorite bars in the whole world...
I am grateful to Jeremy and to all of the chaplains who come through St. Martin's. Having a strong relationship with the ministries at Fort Jackson is, as the 28 Prayer Book says, "both right and good."
I can say with confidence that St. Martin's-in-the-Fields is one of the most active parishes I know. Together we have a tremendous reach and are able to do great work.
Whether it is Fort Jackson, Harvest Hope, the Crayton Backpack Program, services at Atria in the memory care unit, blood drives, Safe Space Dinners, or one of our many other service ministries, we do A LOT! Our church tries its best to stay true to the core Christian value of loving God and our neighbor.
This Sunday, along with Jeremy's preaching, there will be a ministry fair following the 10:30 a.m. service in the Parish Hall. Come see what's going on. Sign up with a ministry you care about, and get involved. I know that you will find that in serving others you are served. It truly is in giving that we receive. Come and see!
In Christ,
Mitch
