This Week from Mitch
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I hope and pray this e-Messenger finds you well. I also hope that you all have a safe and fun 4th of July with family and friends. Next week we will host our Camp Firelight Vacation Bible School! The following Sunday, July 14th, we will have a special children's sermon given by our youth minister. We still need volunteers for VBS, and there is still room if you would like to sign someone up.
As a child, I remember VBS. I remember the snacks, some of the games, and many of the songs. Mostly I remember feeling at VBS like the church was mine. I remember feeling like I belonged. As I write this I am listening to the laughter coming from our church parlor as a group of adults finishes their Bible study. Each of them knows that this is their church, and that that parlor is their space.
The same is true for pick-up basketball, yoga, Artist's Way, Martineers, and many other groups. Each adult participant knows that this is their church, and that they belong. VBS gives that same belonging to the youngest of our members. That's why it's important, that's why the time is special. A sense of belonging is an amazing gift to give.
In Christ,
Mitch
