This Week from Mitch

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I hope and pray that you and your loved ones are well, and for the purposes of this e-Messenger, dry!

Disaster relief ministry is often a ministry of hurry up and wait. We have spoken to the Diocese of South Carolina (Charleston) and an email went out last night to clergy around our diocese (the Diocese of Upper South Carolina). Hopefully, we will soon have a good idea of what relief efforts are needed. If you are a member of the parish and you need help, let the church know.

This Sunday also marks the beginning of our program year! Summer has flown by. At the peace we will bless all teachers, students, and backpacks, so please bring them! We will also be celebrating the sacrament of baptism, with baptisms at the 10:30 AM and 5 PM services. It's going to be special!

Finally, I am so pleased to say that over the next three weeks at our 5 PM service, we will be having a "lay" preaching series. Don't get me wrong, I love to preach and to teach, but in the Episcopal Church we honor all voices and we recognize that our shared faith experience makes all of us stronger. I am excited to hear from Angela, Christi, and Oliver. Come, listen, and support them.

Please, my friends, stay safe in all of this weather. Please also know how excited and thankful your church staff is for you. That we get to serve with you in this wonderful place is a blessing.

In Christ,

Mitch
