FROM THE RECTOR
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
As I write this note, I am listening to the falling rain and Decoy's snores. He's lying down in my office without a care in the world. Every once in a while, while I am writing, he will move around, but for the most part, he is content to lie down ... waiting for the sound of my feet as they move to the door. At which point, he gets up with a start, afraid that I am going to go somewhere without him. He's a goofball, and has been a welcomed church companion during COVID Time. His love, loyalty, and constant awareness of my whereabouts has been a reminder for me of God's unconditional love. What are your reminders of God's love?
During COVID, it is very easy to settle into a routine of doing the same thing and seeing the same things, over and over again. Amid this sort of monotony, it's important to take some time to think about your images of God and God's love. To do this you may need to change your mindset. It's currently 78 degrees and raining. Adults, when was the last time you deliberately stepped in a puddle? When was the last time you walked barefooted in the grass? I encourage you to take some time this weekend to do whatever it takes to focus on God's love. Perhaps all you need to do is watch a sleeping puppy sleep. Perhaps you need to do a deep breathing exercise. Intentionally focusing on God is good for the soul. It's good for your stress; it's good for your health and happiness. Like Decoy is of my whereabouts, God is always aware of yours. Have you taken the time to be aware of God's?
In Christ,
Mitch+
