This Week from Mitch

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

"We are called to walk wet with the waters of our baptism." This has been one of the guiding quotes of my life. Just as if we have stepped out of a pool, people should know we are Christian by the love of Christ that drips and splashes from us. For me, walking wet with the water of our baptism means trying to live into my baptismal covenant each and every day.

This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday. On this day, we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit given to each and every one of us. During this celebration we also will baptize six people into a life in Christ, into the shared baptismal waters of our faith. After the baptisms, we will commission our pilgrims as they prepare to head to Spain to walk the Camino de Santiago. I hope that you will each have the opportunity to attend.

Baptism, followed by a pilgrimage! I pray that our pilgrims can walk wet with the waters of their baptism, that they might be able see beauty in their surroundings and in their journey, and, that, in their travels, they will be able to share the love of Christ that is inside each of them.

For our baptismal candidates, I pray that we, the church, will hold them in prayer and that we truly will do all in our power to support them in their lives in Christ. St. Martin's has been blessed by the Holy Spirit. It is a wonderful place to worship and pray. I look forward to celebrating Pentecost with you all.

In Christ,

Mitch+
