This Week from Mitch
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I hope and pray that you are well. I love this post-Easter time of year. It's a time of celebration, reflection and hope as we look toward the future.
I want to thank our choir and our musicians for the wonderful music they provided. It was beautiful. Thank you to all of our guilds. The altar was beautiful, and the flowers were amazing. Thank you to the folks who helped with soup suppers throughout Lent, the teachings and our Maundy Thursday dinner. Our Easter services were lovely and many hands went into making them happen. Thank you, all.
In the coming weeks, we will read about how Jesus was known to the disciples in the breaking of the bread. There is something special about sitting down and breaking bread with people. The act of breaking bread with someone deepens relationships and strengthens connections. It's holy time.
In the coming weeks, we will have ample time to break bread together. One special event that the church will host will be on May 2nd. That evening, we will host a potluck and the Capital City Big Band will play in our Parish Hall. The band will play from 7 to 8:25 p.m. Doors to the Parish Hall will be open at 6:15 p.m. Please bring a dish to share. We will eat together and then enjoy some time of music, fellowship and dancing. It should be an exciting evening. All are welcome.
This Easter we renewed our Baptismal Covenant. In it we promised to continue in the apostle's teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of the bread and in the prayers. Times of celebration are important because they, like work and prayer, build community. It is in the spirit of our Easter proclamation and our Baptismal Covenant that I look forward to celebrating with each of you.
In Christ,
Mitch+
