With you, O Lord, is the well of life: And in your light we see light. — Psalm 36

a sanctuary in the woods
Located in Aiken, South Carolina, Gravatt is a year-round Episcopal retreat center and summer youth camp. Gravatt is a place where community is built, hospitality is experienced, and God is felt.
Gravatt is a rustic and beloved part of our diocese, a favorite of our youth (and youth who have become our adults), and steeped in great love and memories. It is about an hour drive away from Columbia, nestled in the pine forest around a small beautiful lake. In our retreat weekend, we’ll get to take in all the beauty and serenity it has to offer in nature and gathered around cozy fireplaces.

She graduated from University of the South, and has a Master’s Degree in Organizational Development from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She is also a Certified Personal and Professional Coach. She facilitates spiritual retreats that focus on bringing stories from the Bible to life and using them as a prism to view our own lives.
For fun, Elizabeth loves to garden, cook delicious food, and run with her dog Betty. Along with her Betty, she lives with her husband, John. She has lead Bible studies and spiritual retreats off and on for 15 years.

Caitlyn joined the St. Martin’s staff in 2019. She grew up on the High Plains of Colorado but came East to attend the College of William and Mary where she earned a B.A. in religious studies, focusing on Hebrew scriptures and Christian ethics. Caitlyn was formed for priesthood at Yale Divinity School where she met Scott, her theater-maker husband. A lifelong Episcopalian, Caitlyn is proud to have served in the Episcopal Service Corps and on the United Thank Offering board. Previous side hustles have included rock climbing teacher, craft beer marketer, youth minister, and dog trainer.
If you are looking for Caitlyn on a Sunday afternoon, you’ll find her romping around with her Wheaten Terriers, Bentley & Hopps, or “supervising” her husband’s dinner preparations.

O God, with you is the well of life, and in your light we see light: Quench our thirst with living water, and flood our minds with heavenly light

This retreat is designed for adults only (but nursing infants are fine). There is not childcare or children's programming. This is meant to be a time of relaxation and spiritual self-care.
