This Week from Mitch
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Sausage and eggs, grits, biscuits, breakfast casseroles, juice, and coffee! It's Parish Breakfast time. This Sunday after our 8 a.m. service and before our Jazz Mass at 10:30 a.m., we will host our parishwide breakfast. You are invited.
At the breakfast, we will talk about two categories of things. The first category will be our upcoming month of programming. There are new podcast episodes and Bible studies, a new face joining us at the altar, and our big-picture plans for the upcoming months. There are exciting things ahead.
The next point of conversation will be the two construction projects that St. Martin's will soon embark on. The first is a project to make the campus more accessible to all people. It was part of our Capital Campaign. We will be widening our front driveway, and regrading so the slope is not as steep, widening our handicapped parking spaces and bringing them up to code, and tearing out/re-pouring concrete that has buckled and is un-even. We are going to keep the "look" of the front of the church close to the same, but the dead River Birches will be coming out and new plants will be coming in.
The second project will be the Parish Hall roof. The internal ceilings are falling in, kiddie pools are being used to catch the leaks, and, still, just yesterday, I spent an hour mopping. After last night's rainstorms, it was the same today. This needs to be addressed.
As a reminder on Parish Breakfast Sundays, including this one, there will be no Sunday School. Nursery will be available, also the priest vesting room is available as a cry room should you need it. During the Eucharist, children will be invited forward to pray around the altar. This is a special time for families to worship together in holiness. It's also a special time for our church to celebrate how far we have come in the last couple of years.
In Christ,
Mitch+
