This Week from Mitch
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
What are your summer traditions? What are your summer favorites? For me, summer is a low country boil on the beach or in my backyard, although I grew up calling it Frogmore stew.
For me it's a fish fry, bluegill or bass, caught on a pond as the sun sets and the fireflies start to light up the world.
Summer is sunflowers being planted across dove fields, deer stands being checked, and the occasional wasp sting. It's waking up and taking Lydia to track practice and watching the sun come up. It's taking Noah to a bike race. It's going for walks with Denise.
Last week Reverend Lee spoke to us about the Sabbath and the need for all of us to be refreshed. He said, "God created the Sabbath for us".
God knows we need renewal and rest. How are you taking it? I pray that each of you spend some time today thinking about what gives you peace, and then I ask that you make a plan to go and get or do whatever that thing is. Renewal is important, it's healthy, and it is needed. I pray each of us can find some during these months of "Ordinary Time."
In Christ,
Mitch
