This week from Mitch
Dear Beloved in Christ,
Next Sunday (June 27), our bishop, the Rt. Rev. Andrew Waldo, will be with us in worship. It will be his last visit with us. Every church in our diocese has struggled with COVID and its ramifications. I know that this time has been a defining time in his episcopate, and that just as this past year has been hard for clergy in congregations, it has also been a challenge for the diocesan staff. As we continue to emerge from this pandemic, I look forward to welcoming Bishop Waldo, who will confirm some of our youth along with youth from Trinity Cathedral and St. Francis of Assisi in Chapin. Let's celebrate these amazing young people as we also bid a fond farewell to Bishop Waldo.
For our worship services in the next few weeks, we will continue to use the Green and Blue Zone system. The pews marked with green painter's tape will continue to be for those who are fully vaccinated and do not mind sitting in closer contact with their neighbors. The Blue Zone pews are marked with blue painter's tape. If you desire more physical distance, we invite you to sit in the pews marked with blue tape. We ask that people sit only in pews that are marked.
While we may expand the Green Zone to accommodate for increased attendance, blue pews will continue to be marked.
For the rest of our guidelines, please see our latest instructions from the Diocesan Office, which are outlined below:
Beginning Sunday, June 13, 2021, the following diocesan worship guidelines should be followed. These guidelines supersede all previous guidance:
Vaccinated persons may worship indoors without a mask.
Masks are required for indoor worship for unvaccinated persons.
Only vaccinated persons may sing indoors, whether in choir or congregation.
Unvaccinated persons are to maintain 3' social distancing.
At St. Martin's, we will continue to do our best to worship in a spirit of holiness while loving our neighbors as ourselves.
In Christ,
Mitch+
