This Week from Mitch

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I am excited about several offerings that St. Martin's is working on. The first will happen this Sunday night. Starting at 6, during our youth group time, we will have a program called "Making Room for Joy." The program is directed at parents of our youth group children, but it is really applicable to anyone, particularly those of us who live lives of busyness, seemingly always running from one thing to the next. All are welcome to attend. Bring a covered dish and come and participate.

The second offering that is really beginning to come together is our Annual Parish Weekend. Once again we will be making our way to Hendersonville, N.C., to the Kanuga Camp and Conference Center. For those of you who have never been, it is a beautiful retreat center with stunning views and a fabulous fireplace in its main lounge. Our retreat will be held during the first weekend of February. Our guest speaker for two sessions on Saturday will be the Rev. Micah Jackson. Micah is the president of Bexley Seabury Seminary and will be talking about the future of the church as we move past COVID. For more information, be sure to listen to our Kanuga podcast.

Finally, NEXT SUNDAY the 19th, at our 5 p.m. service, our choirs -- both children and youth -- will be offering the service of Lessons and Carols. They have worked incredibly hard on it, and it will be beautiful. If you are interested in reading a lesson during the service, please let me know. I am so excited to hear our children and young people sing.

From a pig and oyster roast only a few weeks ago, and guest speakers talking to us about making room for joy in our lives, and a youth group that is averaging 19 students a Sunday to our annual parish weekend and special services such as Lessons and Carols, St. Martin's is trying hard to foster community, unity, health and joy, through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Come and see what we are doing, knowing that all are welcome.

In Christ,

Mitch+
