This Week from Mitch

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I love this Sunday's Gospel. After Christmas each year we hear the various stories of Jesus calling his disciples. This Sunday Jesus will ask, "What are you looking for?" I believe that Jesus's question should be a regular question as we think about our spiritual health.

Are you looking for solace? Strength? Connection? Great music? A show? Forgiveness? Friendship? Belonging? Salvation? Grace? Help? A place to serve? What are you looking for?

In my journey as a Christ follower, I have found myself looking for different things at different times. In moments of hardship, I have prayed for strength. In times of fear and worry, I have prayed for wisdom. In moments of loneliness, connection. Taking some time as a part of our spiritual inventory to examine what it is that we are looking for is healthy. Knowing what we are looking for allows us to seek it.

In Christ,

Mitch+
