This Week from Mitch

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Last night I had a wonderful time at Wednesday night church. It was great to eat a delicious meal, spend time with new families and longstanding ones, and to take a moment to pray with someone. It was special to see people studying Scripture, practicing the liturgy, doing yoga, all while being happy and having fun. To me it was a glimpse of our community at its best. What I saw and experienced was really good.

Caitlyn is teaching about the book of Acts. Acts is the story of the early church and how Christianity spread. One of its lessons is that the church grew and spread by creating community. Christian Community is to me a place for people to come and be together as the followers of Jesus in the spirit of love, faith and truth. It is a place where we care for each other in good times and bad.

I invite you to participate in this community. If it's been a while since you have been to church, start with coming back to worship. If you go to church and that is enough for you, great, but if it's not, consider coming to a Wednesday night or going to Sunday school. It is my experience that the more we put into our communities, the more we get back from them. Lent is a great time to reinvest in your faith and faith community, and it is easier to do than you think. All you need to do is come and see.

In Christ,

Mitch+
